Il progetto fotografico balere indaga le sale da ballo, luoghi di incontro e di divertimento ancora attive nell’Italia centro-settentrionale.
La narrazione dello svago si delinea attraverso la rappresentazione degli spazi, ritratti come scatole disabitate, ma proliferanti di mille dettagli e cariche di frastuono e di colori. Paradigma di un piccolo mondo antico oramai quasi perduto, sono testimonianza non solo di un fenomeno sociale ed economico, ma anche di come gusti ed abitudini ludiche manifestino i loro cicli vitali e di pari passo gli adeguamenti e le interpretazioni estetiche dello spazio.
Le balere, e con esse il rito del folklore, sono fatalmente rimaste segno identitario di generazioni precedenti e icone vernacolari di un passato prospero.   

The photographic project 'Balere' investigates dance halls; fun, social meeting places which are still active in central-western Italy.
The narration of amusement and recreation takes shape through the representation of the spaces, portrayed as abandoned boxes, but still overflowing with a thousand details, colors, sounds. Paradigm of an antiquated little world that has almost been forgotten, they are testimony not only to a social and economic phenomenon, but also to tastes and recreational habits that manifest their life cycles together with the aesthetic adjustments and interpretations of the space.
The dance halls - "Le balere" and the folklore that surrounds them have fatally remained an identifying sign of earlier generations and vernacular icons of a prosperous past.
